PS Install Help
This is a PS script installation help page (used in conjunction with PicCheck). For more help log onto the irc.accessirc.net irc network and join #asians4all channel. This page deals with installing the PS script as well as adding asian triggers.
Users who wish to utilise the original PS script with both western triggers and asian triggers are advised to download the following asian trigger file and install the original PS script as described in the 'Installing PS' section.
Note : This help file is written specifically for use with Asian Collections by installing a custom Asian trigger file.
The #asians4all custom trigger file can be found here :
Updated 23rd May 2004
NOTE : PS Script now contains a channel trigger filter to allow only certain triggers to be shared in certain channels (eg only Asian triggers in #asians4all). This trigger file is loaded upon entering the channel, so in the case that no triggers appear in PS, it is likely that your mirc is having trouble loading the trigger file.
Installing PS
Download the PhotoServe script (http://GoldenRule:[email protected]). Unzip the file into your mIRC directory. To install the PhotoServe script type:
/load -rs ps_install.mrc
Enter the relevent information into the boxes that appear
1. Installation directory
2. Trigger
3. Download path
4. Connection speed
5. Default directory for collections
6. Default directory for csvs
7. Default directory for PicCheck report files
The first thing that should be done is right click a channel, go through PhotoServe menu and select PS Control Centre. Now click the 'Other' tab and add the channel you plan to use PS (eg. #asians4all).
In order to setup triggers (and to leech), a report file from PicCheck will be required. this is a text file that contains collection information including filename, status (OK,Missing etc) and other verifier information (size,CRC,path). To output this file, the following options need to be turned on.
1. Output as .TXT on left of main PicCheck window
2. Then go to Options Menu -> Checking. On the bottom right of the window that opens, under 'ECSV Pathnames in Output Listing', check the Full Pathname Column.
Now run 'Check' for the collection you want to set up and a report file will be created.
NOTE : Even if an empty collection exists, a PicCheck report is still required for PS script to be able to leech, so create a directory for the new collection and run PicCheck to create the text file.
To load a custom trigger file into PS, put the trigger files into the MAIN mirc directory (eg, c:\mirc\ ). Right click a channel, go through the Photoserve menu and select Update. After the trigger files are installed, open up the PS control centre and the new triggers will now be available.
(Another method is to copy the .trg file into the \PhotoServe\Triggers sub
directory)
To setup a trigger, open the PhotoServe Control Centre and select the 'Trigger
Setup' tab. Select the collection, click 'Setup' and enter the relevent details (Collection directory,CSV and Report). The script will now count the number of files in total from the csv and also the number of correct files in collection directory. At this stage the trigger is setup for serving and one step away from being ready for leech.
The whole point of having standard trigger names is to allow PS users to easily search for collections. There are two normal ways to find a collection to leech.
a. Using !whereis TRIGGER_NAME, which opens up a window which shows all servers offering that collection. Right click a nick that has the collection and select 'Leech'. A 'Load Saved List ?' window will appear if a previous leech of this collection has already been started. If not, a small window with appear with different leech options. Select the 'file and path' option at the top. A Leech window will now open which should contain a list of files to be leeched. You can modify the leech order here but the main two options are 'start' and 'stop'. Hit 'start' to begin leech!
b. The second method to start a leech is to select a nick in the channel nick list, right click and go through PhotoServe menu and select '@PSTrigWin GET TXT'. The server will then send you a list of their triggers and a window will open showing the triggers and their status. To leech a collection, right click and select 'Leech'. There is also an option to get the csv file. These are the two basic options most often used. The leech window will then pop up and follow the instructions in part
